The scenic drives and wildlife make this a majestic landscape that we have greatly enjoyed exploring. Mt. Rushmore itself was impressive and we walked the Presidential Trail to get the closest viewpoints.
We weren’t able to tour the Sanson Homestead( I had heard about it since childhood but never visited my distant relatives in the Black Hills) which became part of theWind Cave National park in 2011. The roads were impassable due to heavy rains and the infrastructure for the homestead is still being restored so future generations can discover what it was like to homestead and survive, in the mid to late 1800’s in this rough terrain.
You are bringing back some memories that I made with my Mon. Thanks for sharing!
